Take action now against these companies
that profit from the genocide of the Palestinian people
Call by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)

Below you will find a detailed guide to our targeted consumer boycott,
divestment, and pressure campaigns.

Help us spread the word to maximize our impact!

The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), the largest coalition in Palestinian society leading the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS – http://www.bdsmovement.net/), welcomes activists, organizations, and institutions around the world who have expressed their solidarity with our urgent struggle to stop Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip (https://twailr.com/public-statement-scholars-warn-of-potential-genocide-in-gaza/) by escalating boycott and divestment campaigns. Expanding the boycott of complicit Israeli and multinational corporations can be effective if carried out strategically.

Ending all governmental, corporate, and institutional complicity with Israel’s genocidal regime is more urgent than ever. Our lives and livelihoods literally depend on it.

Targeted boycotts vs. non-targeted boycotts

People of conscience around the world are rightfully shocked, angry, and at times feel powerless. Many feel compelled to boycott all products and services from companies in any way connected to Israel. The spread of extensive “boycott lists” on social media is one example of this. This raises the question of how boycotts can become truly effective and actually hold companies accountable for their complicity in the suffering of Palestinians.

The BDS movement employs the historically successful method of targeted boycotts, inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the U.S. civil rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, and many others worldwide.

We must strategically focus on a relatively small number of carefully selected companies and products to achieve maximum impact — companies that have a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is genuine potential for success. This was the case, for example, with G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s, and Pillsbury.

When large, complicit companies are forced through strategic and context-based boycott and divestment campaigns to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians, it sends a very strong message to hundreds of other complicit corporations:

“Your time will come — so get out before it’s too late!”

Many of the endlessly long boycott lists circulating on social media are the exact opposite of this strategic and effective approach.

They contain hundreds of companies, many of which have no credible evidence of a connection to Israel’s regime of oppression against Palestinians, which makes them ineffective.

Nonetheless, all non-violent popular efforts, including boycott and divestment, to hold truly complicit companies (and institutions) accountable for supporting Israel’s grave violations of Palestinian rights are justified and necessary. For example, it is entirely legitimate to boycott companies whose Israeli branches or franchises have supported the unfolding genocide in Gaza — some of which we mention further below in the grassroots boycott section.

Moreover, a company or product may make sense as a boycott target in a certain context or city, but not in another. This context sensitivity is a key principle of our movement. Regardless, we all have limited human capacity, so we should use it as effectively as possible to achieve meaningful, sustainable results that can truly contribute to the liberation of Palestine.

We therefore call on our supporters to intensify our targeted campaigns and boycott the complicit companies listed on our website (https://bdsmovement.net/get-involved/what-to-boycott) to maximize our collective impact.

Below you will find the current priority boycott targets of the global BDS movement.

We have divided these targets into four sections:

Consumer Boycott Targets

The BDS movement calls for a complete boycott of these brands, which have been carefully selected based on proven corporate complicity in Israeli apartheid.

Siemens
Siemens (Germany) is the main contractor (https://bdsmovement.net/siemens-and-chevron-stop-fueling-apartheid-and-climate-disaster) for the Euro-Asia Interconnector, an undersea cable between Israel and the EU that will connect Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory to Europe. Siemens-branded electrical appliances are sold worldwide.

PUMA
PUMA (Germany) sponsors (https://bdsmovement.net/boycott-puma) the Israel Football Association, which includes teams in Israel’s illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

Carrefour
Carrefour (France) is complicit in genocide. Carrefour-Israel has supported Israeli soldiers involved in the genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip with gifts and personal packages. In 2022, the company entered into a partnership (https://bdsmovement.net/boycott-carrefour) with Israeli company Electra Consumer Products and its subsidiary Yenot Bitan — both involved in severe violations against the Palestinian people.

AXA
When Russia invaded Ukraine, the insurance giant AXA (France) took targeted action against Russia. Yet while Israel — a 75-year-old regime of settler colonialism and apartheid — wages a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, AXA (https://bdsmovement.net/axa-divest) continues to invest in Israeli banks that finance war crimes and the theft of Palestinian land and natural resources.

Hewlett Packard Inc. (HP Inc.)
HP Inc. (US) provides services (https://bdsmovement.net/boycott-hp) to the offices of the leaders of genocide, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Finance Minister Smotrich.

SodaStream
SodaStream is actively involved in Israel’s policy of forcibly displacing Indigenous Bedouin-Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Naqab (Negev) and has a long history of racist discrimination against Palestinian workers.

Ahava
Ahava cosmetics’ production facility, visitor center, and main store are located in an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territory.

RE/MAX
RE/MAX (US) markets and sells properties in illegal Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land, thus enabling Israel’s colonization of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli products in your supermarkets
Fruit, vegetables, and wine misleadingly labeled as “Product of Israel” often come from illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land. Israeli companies do not differentiate between the two, and neither should consumers. Boycott products (https://bdsmovement.net/farming-injustice) from Israel in your supermarket and demand their removal from shelves.

Divestment Targets

Elbit Systems
Elbit Systems (https://bdsmovement.net/military-embargo) is Israel’s largest arms company. It tests its weapons on Palestinians, including during Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. Elbit not only manufactures killer drones but also provides surveillance technology for Israel’s apartheid wall, checkpoints, and the Gaza fence — thus enabling apartheid. The US and EU also use Elbit technology to militarize their borders and violate the rights of refugees and Indigenous peoples.

HD Hyundai / Volvo / CAT / JCB
Machinery from HD Hyundai (South Korea), Volvo (Sweden/China), CAT (US), and JCB (UK) has been used by Israel in the ethnic cleansing and forcible displacement of Palestinians through the demolition of homes, farms, and businesses, as well as in the construction of illegal settlements on stolen land — a war crime under international law.

Barclays
Barclays Bank (UK) holds over £1 billion in shares and provides more than £3 billion in loans and underwriting to nine companies whose weapons, components, and military technology are used in Israel’s armed violence against Palestinians.

CAF
The Basque transport company CAF builds and maintains the Jerusalem Light Rail (JLR), a tram line serving Israel’s illegal settlements in Jerusalem. CAF profits (https://bdsmovement.net/boycott-caf) from Israel’s war crimes on stolen Palestinian land.

Chevron
The multinational US fossil fuel corporation Chevron is the largest international company extracting gas in the Eastern Mediterranean claimed by apartheid Israel. Chevron generates billions in revenue, bolsters Israel’s war chest and apartheid system, and worsens the climate crisis.

HikVision
Amnesty International has documented high-resolution CCTV cameras from the Chinese company HikVision (https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2023/05/israel-opt-israeli-authorities-are-using-facial-recognition-technology-to-entrench-apartheid/) installed in residential areas and mounted on Israeli military facilities to surveil Palestinians. Some models can be connected to external facial recognition software, according to HikVision.

TKH Security
Amnesty International has identified cameras from Dutch company TKH Security (https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2023/05/israel-opt-israeli-authorities-are-using-facial-recognition-technology-to-entrench-apartheid/) being used by Israel to monitor Palestinians. TKH supplies the Israeli police with surveillance technology used to maintain apartheid.

Pressure Campaigns (No Boycott)

Google and Amazon (US)
While the Israeli military bombed homes (https://www.businessinsider.com/israel-bombing-gaza-apartment-buildings-potential-war-crime-rights-groups-2021-5), clinics (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/18/world/middleeast/israel-gaza-covid-lab.html), and schools (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/8/20/back-to-school-in-gaza-4000-changed-schools-because-of-conflict) in Gaza — and threatened (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/11/sheikh-jarrah-residents-speak-out-on-israels-forced-expulsions) to forcibly evict Palestinian families from their homes in occupied Jerusalem in May 2021 — executives at Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud signed a $1.22 billion contract to provide the Israeli government and military with cloud technology. By supplying apartheid Israel with vital technologies, Amazon and Google are directly complicit in the entire system of oppression, including the unfolding genocide in Gaza. Join (https://www.notechforapartheid.com/) the #NoTechForApartheid campaign. While campaigns targeting these companies have not called for a boycott, other forms of public pressure have been applied to force them to end their complicity.

Airbnb / Booking / Expedia
Airbnb (US), Booking.com (Netherlands), and Expedia (US) all offer rentals in illegal Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land. Campaigns targeting these companies have not yet called for a boycott but have applied other forms of public pressure to compel them to end their complicity.

Disney
Marvel Studios (US), owned by Disney, promotes a “superhero” embodying apartheid Israel in the next Captain America film. Both companies are thus complicit in what Palestinian cultural organizations have described as “anti-Palestinian racism, Israeli propaganda, and the glorification of settler-colonial violence against Indigenous peoples.”

Grassroots Boycott Targets

McDonald’s (US), Burger King (US), Papa John’s (US), Pizza Hut (US), WIX (Israel), and others are now being targeted in certain countries by grassroots boycott campaigns not initiated by the BDS movement because these companies or their branches/franchises in Israel have openly supported apartheid Israel and/or made large in-kind donations to the Israeli military amid the current Israeli offensive against 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip — described as “genocide” (https://ccrjustice.org/sites/default/files/attach/2023/10/Israels-Unfolding-Crime_ww.pdf) by leading international legal scholars. If these grassroots campaigns are not active in your region, we suggest focusing your energy on our strategic campaigns above.

Remember: All Israeli banks and virtually all Israeli companies are involved to some degree in Israel’s occupation and apartheid system — and hundreds of international corporations and banks are also deeply complicit. We focus our boycotts on a small number of companies and products to achieve maximum impact (https://bdsmovement.net/get-involved/what-to-boycott).
