Während On- und Offline-Zensur, regelmäßige Diffamierungskampagnen sowie juristische Einschüchterungsversuche berüchtigte Mittel der staatlichen, institutionellen und individuellen Repression und Unterdrückung sind, können sie auch als eine zunehmend verzweifelte Reaktion in einer Zeit verstanden werden, in der die dominanten Narrative des Zionismus und der weißen Vorherrschaft zusammen mit westlichen Imperien bröckeln.
Die Komplizenschaft der EU an Israels Gräueltaten gegen das palästinensische Volk ist unbestreitbar, und die Ignoranz und Beschönigung der groben Verstöße gegen das Völkerrecht sind eine Tatsache. Dennoch hat die europäische Zivilgesellschaft den Staat Israel aufgrund gemeinsamer kolonialer Interessen, Rassismus und performativer Schuld freigesprochen, während sie gleichzeitig diejenigen ins Visier nimmt, die einen prinzipienfesten Streit für Gerechtigkeit und Befreiung führen.

The limitations on free speech and the lack of universality in human
rights objectives when it comes to advocacy for the Palestinian cause
have become more and more obvious in Western Europe - and the
German-speaking world in particular.
While on- and offline censorship, regular defamation campaigns as well
as legal intimidation cases are infamous means of state, institutional
and individual repression and silencing, they also can be perceived as
an increasingly desperate response in a time where the dominant
narratives of zionism and white supremacy are crumbling alongside
Western empires.
EU-complicity in Israel's atrocities against the Palestinian people is
undeniable and officials' ignorance and whitewashing of its gross
violations of international law are factual. Yet, European civil society
has been absolving the state of Israel due to shared colonial interests,
racism and performative guilt while at the same time targeting those who
follow a principled fight for justice and liberation.
So, do human rights and international law apply to the anti-racist civil
