Resistance is the key to return!
78 Years of fight against the occupation: from the Nakba until ESC 2026

On the 15th of May we remember the ‘Nakba’. 78 years ago, 750.000+ Palestinian people were displaced, many were murdered, and villages were completely destroyed. On this day, we remember the co-existence of all the communities that historically lived in Palestine before the establishment of the Zionist entity. We remember the lives, stories, and struggles of the Palestinian people from the Nakba until today.

The Nakba is not an isolated event, but the establishment of the ongoing Israeli settler colonialism in Palestine, with the support of Western imperialist powers. We are witnessing the escalation of genocidal violence since two and a half years. The ongoing genocide materializes itself through massive murder, displacement, illegal imprisonment and recently the death penalty only for Palestinians.

Remembering is fighting! We are fighting the normalization and legitimization of apartheid and genocide. We are fighting the erasure of Palestinian Culture. Culture is not neutral! It is political! By hosting ESC 2026 with the participation of Israel, Austria is giving a stage to Israel, normalizing a genocide and showing its complicity. This is only one manifestation of Austria’s complicity; in addition to political, economical and military cooperations with the State of Israel.
